Multi-vlaai voor multi-verjaardag

Today, we’re celebrating multiple birthdays (4) with multiple cakes (5). Besides yours truly, who had his birthday a few days ago, THREE other people will have their birthday next Sunday, so today seemed like a good day to treat all our colleagues. Below you see two of the cakes, a delicious (southern-) Dutch specialty called “vlaaien”, which you can get at Multi-Vlaai.

If you’re wondering why the cakes have funny faces, read this page on Saint Nicholas.

Puzzle: in a group of 60 people, how large is the probability of three people having the same birthday? For all you highly-educated people, this puzzle should be a piece of cake (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun).

I’m Back

Phew… I’m finally back in the office again.
Well I was yesterday afternoon, but just for a few hours.
And it’s a lot nicer than lying in bed all the time trying to get better…

Say Blaaah

Is there a worse time to get sick than during a holiday…?

Had a sore throat last Wednesday and got a temperature on Thursday, and have been sick since then… Thought I was better this morning, but alas…

Matrix Revolutions

“Everything that has a beginning, has an end”. This is the motto for the third and last part of the Matrix trilogy.

So we saw it yesterday, and found that the reviews were right: it’s disappointing. My cousin even thought it was VERY disappointing. I thought it had some okay parts, but I wouldn’t go and see it again, and definitely not buy the DVD when it comes out (like I did for the second one).

My cousin and I are now looking forward to watching Kill Bill, the new Tarantino movie.

Hurrah, hurrah

“It’s a holi-holiday” as the song goes.

Starting today I have a week off… Not only to finish my days before the end of the year, but also because my cousin from Canada is in Europe for 6 weeks, one of which he is spending here. So that’s gonna be fun.

Despite the so-so reviews, we plan on seeing The Matrix Revolutions and doing some other fun things…
